Homemade Shakers

Paper Plate Shaker:

What you’ll need:

    • Paper plate
    • Crayons, markers, stickers, etc (optional)
    • Stapler
    • Dried beans or tiny rocks

Directions:

    1. Have your child color and decorate the back of a paper plate.
    2. When they are finished, fold the paper plate in half and staple well around the edges. Leave a hole open at the top.
    3. Add a few scoops of dried beans or rocks to the plate through the hole. When you have enough, staple the hole shut. Make sure that you staple close enough together to prevent the beans from escaping.

Water Bottle Shaker:

What you’ll need:

    • Empty individual water bottle
    • Glue or duct tape
    • Decorations for bottle (optional)
    • Dried beans or tiny rocks

Directions:

    1. Fill the bottle only about ΒΌ of the way with the dried beans or rocks.
    2. Seal the cap on with glue or tape.
    3. Have your child decorate the bottle with stickers or paint.
